Mum and dad got engaged at Christmas 1957 and were married the following year. Looking at the 4 small wedding photos I think that really was the happiest day of her life as she stood proudly hand in hand with dad smiling outside the register office. The wedding photos were never on display - mum considered them private. It was a quiet wedding first thing on a Monday morning, which suited mum and dad - mum never wanted to be the centre of attention. She never wanted a fuss. The wedding was a small intimate gathering of close family members. There were only three guests - my Nan and Auntie Mary and Uncle Arthur, who had made her the blue tailored suit she got married in. She always looked good in blue - it matched her eyes.
